I'm sure I will have an ah-ha moment with more valuable insights in the upcoming weeks but in the meantime I do have a few practical words of advice.

1. Try to avoid paying full price for props. Instead search your house, dollar stores, consignment shops and garage sales. You could also ask a friend to borrow that special something that has caught your eye.

2. Play with proportion. For this product, a similarly sized object can prop the cards up (literally) while a large object can serve as a back drop.Hi, I'm Chris.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12475015672306970522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575548004510228457.post-17915555254185733522009-03-17T12:47:00.000-07:002009-03-17T12:47:00.000-07:00Hi Chris,Interesting article. Did you have any take aways about working with props?Allesenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05505059640823993327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575548004510228457.post-32568815861983473022009-02-24T09:10:00.000-08:002009-02-24T09:10:00.000-08:00Hi, Mayflower - There are times when I need to tak...Hi, Mayflower - There are times when I need to take an extra day or two to find that special something that inspires me. It always turns out to be the personality of the kids or family that clinches the deal and makes the cards special to the clients. That extra bit of time is always worth it. That's why I estimate the design lead time at seven to ten days though I often turn around designs in a shorter period of time.

Hi, Naomi - Thanks for your continued support! Roo and Jasper look like they've grown up so much since last Fall. When I launched Thumbprint I offered a quarterly update/subscription package specifically for playdate cards since the kiddos grow so quickly. Basically, I kept the design on the back of the card the same [unless contact info has been updated] and redesign the photo side of the Trading Cards at a reduced price. I'll e-mail you the details separately. Maybe we can even do another giveaway for the summer...

ChrisHi, I'm Chris.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12475015672306970522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575548004510228457.post-57894813572327489562009-02-24T07:51:00.000-08:002009-02-24T07:51:00.000-08:00Looks great!
